Being a Tourist

What were we going to do the first day in London? Yes, thats right, see some sights! T had never been to London, so he wanted to see come things that had always been in his mind.  We first walked outside; me in a dress, T in shorts and a t-shirt.  We walked down the street towards the tube station, realizing that everyone around us was wearing jeans, long sleeved shirts, uggs, ear muffs, and carrying umbrellas.  To us, the weather looked great! We were ready to go!

As soon as we got to the corner of the street, the clouds began to roll in, the sun was covered, and we decided that we should probably go back and change before venturing into the city.  Now, we understood why most everyone had warmer clothes on.  We were kind of nervous, thinking that we did not pack the right clothes.  However, we changed into what we had, and then began another journey down the road and to our tube station.

On our stroll down Kings Road towards the tube, we noticed a little market in Sloane Square.  Excited as can be, we headed to the market to begin exploring what was sold there.  There were tons of cheeses, different ethnic foods, and a few fruits and vegetables.  We immediately purchased some goat cheese that was delicious when we tasted it!

The next stop on our agenda was yet another market.... a famous market for foodies.... Borough Market.  It was amazing! There were so many food booths.  Lots of breads, cheeses, fruits, veggies, places to get lunch, etc, etc.  Honestly, I was a bit overwhelmed! I didn't know where to go or what to look at! It was extremely crowded, yet we loved the atmosphere.  T immediately bought me a market bag, and we purchased some more cheese and some red onion, blackberry, and chili chutney to go with all of the cheeses that we now had.  I also found out that it is open on Thursdays and it is not as busy then.... I will be back!

At Borough Market.. with my new bag!

We then took a stroll along the Thames River, past the Tate Museum, past Shakespeare's Globe Theater, and found a bridge that we would soon cross to be on the other side.

As you can see, we have A LOT more to see! We have a whole summer ahead of us!
